In the nineties, ecotourism exploded in Bolivia, especially after the harrowing adventures of Yossi Ghinsberg put the spotlight on places like Rurrenabaque, in the Bolivian jungle. The result was a mishmash of haphazard ecotourism outfits that were out to make a quick buck.
But not so with Sergio Ballivian. I have known Sergio since the early nineties and he has always shown an appreciation and respect for Bolivia’s people and wild places. He has worked on numerous book and film projects, all related to the incredible variety Bolivia has to offer and the country’s well-being. He has taken me on some incredible adventures.
