National Geographic quality images are no accident. Only those who know where, when and how to capture them may apply. Sergio Ballivian knows all the tricks. And why not, he grew up in the backcountry of this incredible photographer’s paradise. I have been blessed to travel there under his guidance on several occasions. Most memorable was our foray into the flooded depths (perhaps 1-6″) of the Salar de Uyuni. This 12000′ mirror, 25 times the size of the famous Bonneville Salt Plains was stunning to the senses. Sergio’s navigation and expertise in photography is clearly illustrated in the results of any travel there with him. I am grateful to have had the experience.
